They are called pro-forma financial statements because they have the form of financial statements, but are not prepared from actual operating results. The three major financial statements are the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement. For external reporting, these statements must conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
