Life Style / Wine Grapes / Wildbacher: Ancient grape mainly grown in, and thought to originate from, Austria. Recent DNA analysis proposes one parent as the Heunisch variety x a currently unknown variety. Used to produce popular ros? 'Schilcher' still wines that are very acidic and drunk very young and also ros? sparkling wines that are mainly found in western Styria. The variety is also grown in small amounts in northeastern Italy and the nearby former Yugoslavian state of Slovenia.
