Life Style / Wine Grapes / Edelweiss: Created by Elmer Swenson, this cultivar is derived from an Ontario x (Beta x Witt) cross. Very winter-hardy, reportedly to -30 deg. F (approx -34 C). Claimed to have excellent disease resistance and adaptability with a flavor that intensifies with hangtime. Produces amber colored fruit suitable for creating popular sweet wine, juice or as a tablegrape. Usually ripens around a month to five weeks before Concord.
