It became a national holiday 12 years later by similar Congressional action. It is now known as Veteran's Day. In 1931 the Canadian Parliament changed the name of the holiday to Remembrance Day and made November 11 a legal holiday. It is a time to stop and remember those who served to protect the freedom of all.
