Chinese Dragon Boat Festival

Life Style / Holiday / Chinese Dragon Boat Festival: This ancient Chinese festival was once an outdoor boat race where dragon-shaped boats raced, symbolizing a real dragon fight in the heavens, to bring heavy rains. The festival took place after the spring planting, when people had time to relax and needed rain for their crops. Today it is celebrated near the fifth day of the fifth moon on the Chinese Calendar. Vietnamese and Viet-Chinese call this the Fifth of Five Moon Festival. Dragons are the most important symbol of good fortune in Chinese tradition. Celebrated in May or June.
