First Person Shooter

Entertainment / Video Games / First Person Shooter: Used in reference to the point of view in a video game. In a first-person game, the player sees the game world through the eyes of the player character. By contrast, in third-person games, the player sees the player character (example: any Mario game). Until the advent of good 3D engines in games like Doom, just about all games were third person. FYI, there is no such thing as a second-person game (the player would always see the player character's face, and all movements would be in reverse).
