Entertainment / Literature / Sturgeons Law: When asked why so much of science fiction consisted of 'crap' (junk literature), science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, reportedly responded that '90% of everything was crap.' His point was that, yes, most science fiction was poorly written, but the vast bulk of all writing everywhere is also poorly written, so there's no surprise that a similar ratio of quality to crud appears in any particular genre. This adage has been called Sturgeon's Law by science fiction fans.
