Mythography

Entertainment / Literature / Mythography: The commentary, writings, and interpretations added to myths. Medieval writers, such as the four anonymous scribes collectively called the 'Vatican Mythographers,' would take Greek and Roman myths and write elaborate Christianized allegories to explain the meaning of the text. Another example of medieval mythography is the Ovid moralis???©e, a retelling of Ovid's Metamorphoses in which French scribes interpret the legends as Christological commentary on the New Testament.
