Entertainment / Literature / Freudian Slip: A slip of the tongue in which a person means to say one thing, but accidentally substitutes another word or phrase in a suggestive or revealing manner. For instance, suppose a young man were attracted to the physical features of a young woman. He tries to make nonchalant small-talk about the cold weather rather than gawk at her breasts. He means to say, 'Awful nippy out, isn't it?' He actually states, 'Awful nipply out, isn't it?' This error is a Freudian slip in which his subconscious desires have revealed themselves through verbal errors.
