Entertainment / Ice Hockey / Penalties: There are four kinds of penalties. Minor penalties, major penalties, misconduct penalty and match penalties. For a minor penalty a player must sit in the penalty box for 2 minutes or until the other team scores. For a major penalty a player must sit in the penalty box for 5 minutes. And does not get out before 5 minutes for any reason. A match penalty involves the suspension of a player for the balance of the game and the player will be ordered to the dressing room immediately. A substitute player can replace the penalized player after five minutes of playing time has gone by. A misconduct penalty results in a player going to the penalty box for 10 minutes.
